In this Year of Homecoming, na Clarsairean (the Scottish Harp Orchestra), Lothian Gaelic Choir and invited guests present a programme which is a veritable tapestry of music old and new from around Scotland and beyond. Enjoy haunting Gaelic songs and airs as well as toe-tapping dance tunes-and a few surprises – in an informal but lively ceilidh atmosphere.
Na Clarsairean will perform a new suite “Return to Tiree,” composed by their director, Isobel Mieras, which contrasts the plangent tones of the historic wire strung clarsach with the warmth and colour of the modern instrument.
