Salt and Light
An exhibition of photos relating to the work of the Mamie Martin Fund in Malawi
The Mamie Martin Fund (MMF) is a Scottish charity with historic links to North Malawi where they work with local partners to help girls through secondary school. Those girls are selected by the partner schools on the basis of need, not academic ability.
MMF pays school fees for these girls, and offers additional support for small but essential items, without which the girls could not remain at school.
These photos are indicative of the context of MMF’s work. Photographs are by Moira Dunworth, MMF Trustee. An MMF Trustee visits the schools in Malawi each year as part of good governance.
‘Her life was like salt and light to many people’ – from a letter of condolence to Mamie Martin’s parents after her untimely death (1928).
You can view the exhibition in the Undercroft Cafe at St Andrew’s and St George’s West. It’s open 11.30am-2.30pm Monday-Thursday
