Operetta Double Bill: Tumbling Lassie and Fergus of Galloway

April 14 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Sunday 14th April, 7.30pm

On the evening of Sunday 14th April 2019, the Church will host a wonderful musical evening featuring a double bill of operettas by the world famous Edinburgh-based writer Alexander McCall Smith and his regular musical collaborator, Tom Cunningham – one operetta telling the story of one of the earliest known works in Scottish literature, the romance of Fergus of Galloway, and the other bringing to life the true tale of The Tumbling Lassie, a drama of slavery in Scotland in 1687 which still resonates today. The performance team, under the expert direction of David Lyle and Alan Borthwick, will include a real tumbling lassie! All net proceeds from the event will go to the Tumbling Lassie appeal, which raises funds for charities which fight modern slavery and people trafficking and look after the victims of these crimes both in Scotland and abroad. Further details of the Tumbling Lassie appeal can be found at tumblinglassie.com.

Tickets (£10 each) can be bought through the Tumbling Lassie website, on the Events-2019 page (small booking fee applies), or on the door on the night, space permitting.
