Follow the Star
December 16, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Follow the Star closes early today (2pm) to allow our choir and orchestra to rehearse for Carols at Six. Carols at Six is our annual free Christmas concert of festive music, carols and readings for everyone. Everyone is welcome so please do come along – singing carols among 40 Christmas trees is a fabulous experience.
This Christmas follow the star and head east along George Street to the seventh Edinburgh Christmas Tree Festival at St Andrew’s and St George’s West Church.
Maybe you have paused on the church’s portico to admire the stunning Christmas lights on the Dome opposite. So, just for a change, why not turn around and step through the door into a different world.
Inside you will discover the lovely Georgian sanctuary illuminated by 40 sparkling trees. Each tree has been individually decorated by local businesses, charities and groups.
The trees are sustainably sourced from Caring Christmas Trees, a social enterprise which supports the Bethany Winter Night Shelter, an emergency service for those sleeping rough in Edinburgh.
Entry is free. Visitors are invited to make a donation which is shared between three local charities: Edinburgh Direct Aid, Health in Mind and Richmond’s Hope
