The Undercroft is a cafe with a heart staffed by volunteers under the direction of an experienced and creative chef. We offer delicious home-made food at affordable prices. You can enjoy a quick and satisfying lunch, or a long chat with a friend over coffee and cake. In the heart of the city we are a community café. We are not driven by profit but want you to feel at home, whether you are a one-time visitor or a loyal regular.

- We buy Fair Trade, sustainably produced and ethically sourced products wherever possible. This helps to promote safe working conditions and fair rates of pay throughout the world
- We buy locally grown or produced ingredients. This supports local farmers and artisans and reduces our carbon footprint
- We are working to minimise our use of single-use plastic.
Undercroft volunteers
Our “Crofters” are volunteers from all walks of life who love the buzz of being amongst people and serving our customers. We are very proud that many of our trainees have moved on into full time employment. In 2016 Port of Leith Housing Authority awarded us Most Supportive Employer of the Year.
