about us

Welcome to Edinburgh New Town Church of Scotland

Our church is a beautiful building with an important architectural and historic heritage, placed in the centre of a historic and “well-set” city.

It combines a peaceful sanctuary space with lively and energetic activities. The church is usually open every day for prayers and a peaceful space.  We have a lively welcome for children and well-developed pastoral care for our members and others in need of company and support.

We have a famous Christian Aid Sale every year, play host as a Fringe venue and have events including music, lectures, exhibitions, debates for schools and a Christmas Tree Festival involving local businesses and charities.

Other activities include study and social groups, an ecumenical partnership and inter-faith links, crafts and recycling and campaigning on issues affecting the world.

Edinburgh New Town Church is an Affirming Congregation, affirming the rights of LGBTQ people to play a full part in the life of the Church; a member of Edinburgh Interfaith Association seeking to build understanding between people of all faiths and none, and an Eco-Congregation, striving to reduce its environmental impact and to care for the world.

Edinburgh New Town Church is a congregation of the Church of Scotland. In our parish grouping we work with Broughton St Mary’s Church and are members of the ecumenical partnership Edinburgh City Centre Churches Together.
